Perfect Spots For Long Weekend Getaways

With spring around the corner and summer well on its way, there’s never been a better time to start thinking about all those great things you want to do this summer or where you want to go. While a huge summer holiday, jetting off somewhere for two or three weeks may be on the cards for the heart of summer, you might need something a bit sooner to get you through. If you’re like most people you’re probably looking for a great idea for a long weekend getaway. If so, here are a couple of great suggestions!

Looking for somewhere with a bit of everything? You need to check out Cornwall. This gorgeous southern county is ripe for those who love to kick back on beaches, body board in Atlantic surf or while away the hours exploring old ruins of neolithic and ancient sites like Chysauster. Staying at Perran Springs Holiday Park is an ideal idea as it’s very central and within only an hour’s drive or so of most major sites including Tintagel, Boscastle, Bodmin Moor, St Ives, the Lizard and Land’s End.

Ah, Paris. Who doesn’t love a bit of the French vibe? From croissants made with real butter to wines as fine as they come, Paris is a great place for couples, singletons and families alike who want to get away from the UK for a long weekend. With Montmarte, the Artist’s Quarter at the foot of the beautiful Sacre Coeur Church as well as amazing sites such as Notre Dame, the Statue of Liberty, the Seine and Eiffel Tower to name but a few, you will find more than you can manage to do in Paris during your time there. For the kids, take a trip out near Versailles to explore Disneyland Paris, Europe’s answer to its American cousins.

Yorkshire is one of the prettiest counties in England and is home to rolling green hills lined with low drywall, holding in long-haired highland sheep and the like. Small villages that seem to be located back in time dot the countryside, such as Grassington, where time appears to have stood still. Country pubs line tight narrow lanes and larger cities such as Knaresborough and Harrogate are gorgeous spots to stop off for a day or two. Visit York to see the York Minster, the Shambles medieval street as well as the Guy Fawkes Inn – the actual birthplace of one of England’s most infamous historical figures.

So there you have a couple of great places in the UK and in Europe that are ideal for long weekends – whether you’re just a couple looking for romance on the streets of Paris or you have a couple of kids you’re looking to entertain. There’s a little something for everyone in these suggestions!
